Hello Families,
Listed below are a couple of reminders for the week:
This week, the toddlers will be exercising their bodies with Tammy Holley at 10:30 and 11:00 on Monday, April 2nd.
Staff vacations this week: Erin will be off Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (Her substitute on Wednesday will be Shelby and her substitite on Thursday and Friday will be Sarah M.) Amanda will be working the 7-4 shift.
Seema will be off Tuesday – Friday. Her substitute will be Sunita.
Jamie will be off on Thursday. Her substitute will be Amanda O.
We also wanted to let you know that there will be two trike-a-thons taking place this week on our side parking lot. That particular area of the parking lot will be blocked off on Wednesday and Thursday morning for this reason. We appreciate your cooperation!
Lastly, a reminder that April celebrates Month Of The Young Child. This week celebrates community and your child’s art work is currently displayed at Cafe’ Marie! Feel free to stop by and take a peak – it will be up until Friday morning!

Hello Families,
In April we celebrate the Month Of The Young Child! We will be implementing activities with the children to celebrate and incorporate their interests! The month will look as follows:
April 2-6: Community Week
April 8-13: Parent Week
April 16-20: Children Week
April 12-27: Staff Week
We wanted to inform you that during community week we will be posting some of the Children’s art work at a local cafe’ in Ann Arbor called Cafe’ Marie. Cafe’ Marie is located on Plymouth road and the pond wing art work will be posted there on Friday, March 30 and it will be taken down on the morning of Friday, April 6! Please feel free to stop in and view your child’s art work! Cafe’ Marie is open until 3 p.m. everyday and their website is listed below for further information.

We will also be hosting a mini march for Cystic Fibrosis. We will keep you posted with information regarding the march and any other activities that we may be participating in during the month. Please let us know if you have any questions!

Reminders and Updates from the Director

Thank you!
I just want to thank everyone for their diligence in getting all the documents we needed updated. Emergency cards and health forms are key pieces of information for our center to keep current. We have had our licensing visit and our Environmental Health Inspection within the last two weeks. The inspections went well . Our child file paperwork was in compliance and our Health Inspection was a grade ‘A’!
Month of the Young Child
April is the Month of the Young Child. You will be hearing more and more about the activities we have planned as we get closer. Each week in April we have a different focus – Community, Children, Parents and Staff. Please watch your mailboxes, check the teacher blogs and be on the look out for e-mails letting you know the fun things we are doing to celebrate young children. Also note that the PAGrepresentatives for Dhu Varren (Parent Advisory Group) typically asks me to forward families information from them on how you can make the teachers feel special during this time. There will be lots of enjoyment to be had in April!
Fire and Tornado Drills
As you may know, we have a fire drill every month throughout the year. You may have seen us wheeling the infants out to the preschool playground in our ‘off road’ emergency crib as well as the toddlers, preschool and school agers lined up to be counted. What you may not know is that we also practice tornado drills between the months of March and October. We will be resuming our drills this month. Your preschooler may be able to show you the position they are asked to take when we practice!

Hello Families,
Posted below are some recent photos highlighting activities that the children have been enjoying!
You will see that the Cozy Cove infants got all bundled up and ventured outdoors for some sledding, while the Water’s Edge toddlers show off their Snowman “Krusty” that they decided to build! Then, inside the Shady Spot toddlers enjoyed exploring a cardboard box! They investigated it by painting, climbing inside and peeking through the windows!
Listed below are some of the Key Developmental Indicators that the children may have experienced during these various activities.
*Children repeat an action to make something happen again, experience cause and effect.
*Children experience “more”.
*Children imitate and pretend.

Pond Infants and Toddlers: Birthdays and Warm Welcomes!

Hello families,
This month, we will be welcoming back Katie from her maternity leave! She will return to work on Thursday, March 1st. We will also be welcoming her son, Michael to the Cozy Cove! Then, James Wei and his family will be joining Gretchen’s House as well. James will be enrolled in our older toddler classroom, Water’s Edge – we are excited to have you all here!
We will also be celebrating a few birthdays as well!
Weston and Nora will celebrate their second Birthday on Friday, March 2nd!
Henry will celebrate his second Birthday on Monday, March 12th.
Lastly, Katherine will celebrate her first Birthday on Saturday, March 31st!
We wish them all a very Happy Birthday!
