Lucy Chen visits Garden Preschool

April 10, 2015 by · Leave a Comment

Garden Preschool Families,

Today we had the privilege of having Lucy Chen, Aiden Chen’s mother, in our classroom during morning work time! During this time she read books, that she brought from home, to the children in the book area. The children rather enjoyed a new face reading to them and Aiden enjoyed having his mother interacting with him and his friends in class.

Below are some pictures from the experience that I thought you would enjoy.

Garden Preschool: Tammy Holley

March 6, 2015 by · Leave a Comment

Garden Preschool Families,

This Thursday, March 5, Garden Preschool had the privilege of a visit with Tammy Holley in the gym. There we explored the word ‘opposite’ and used our large muscles. We used balls to demonstrate opposites through different motions such as up & down, under & over, high & low. Below is a picture from our day that I thought you would enjoy.

Garden Preschool has a Camp Out

February 25, 2015 by · Leave a Comment

Garden Preschool Families,

Last week we decided to have a camp out in our classroom due to No Public School Days in the Young 5’s and School Age Room! With older siblings wearing pajamas to Gretchen’s House, we decided to have an event where Garden Preschoolers could do the same.

With their pajamas on the children all enjoyed exploring their creativity through pretend play. In the room we had many tents set up, flashlights available and some children even brought their own camping gear (ie. sleeping bags, tents, lanterns). We went on a bear hunt while reading We’re going on a Bear Hunt, by Michael Rosen, and we ate yummy s’mores for snack. Below are some fun pictures from our eventful day.

I hope you enjoy them!

Garden Preschool – Snow Fun

January 19, 2015 by · Leave a Comment

Garden Preschool Families,

With the recent snow and the increase in temperature we were able to enjoy the new white fluff! The children enjoyed tasting the snow, making snow balls, throwing the snow in the air and sledding! We gathered up as much snow as we could to create a ‘make-shift’ hill. Each child enjoyed taking turns sliding down the hill in their sleds and being pulled around in their sleds by teachers.

Below are some fun winter photos I thought you would enjoy.

Garden Preschool visits Tammy Holley

Garden Preschool Families,

We were fortunate to pay a visit to Tammy Holley in the gym on Thursday, January 8, 2015. This session we used noodles and balls, which supports the development of our large muscle skills. We practiced moving the noodle from right to left and ‘slapping’ the ball with the noodle, similar to hockey. Each child had fun hitting the ball and chasing after it. Below are some fun photos I thought you would enjoy.

Garden Preschool Brings Snow Inside

January 7, 2015 by · Leave a Comment

Hello Garden Preschool Families!

Due to the frigid temperatures outside and your eager, excited young children wanting to get their hands in the new white fluff, Garden Preschool decided to bring the snow inside! Each of your children had fun holding the snow, building tiny snowmen, throwing the snow and watching it melt. We spent time talking about the relationship between snow and water, why snow melts and the different states of water. The fun-filled activity became an exciting science experiment for their young minds.

Below are some pictures from the activity for you to enjoy!

Garden Preschool: Tammy Holley

Dear Garden Preschool families,

Today, our class attended a Tammy Holley session in the gym. There, we focused on adverbs such as ‘around’ and

‘through’ while also talking about verbs such as ‘slide.’ I wanted to share some of the photos from today’s session since the children love seeing Tammy Holley.
